Lakers Fever

June 17, 2010.  Another beautiful Thursday in DTLA.... and the much anticipated Game 7 of the 2010 NBA finals between our beloved Lakers and infamous Celtics.  Anywhere you went in DTLA, you were hard pressed to miss the thousands of Lakers fans walking the streets near Staples and LA Live.  All just trying to be near to the excitement that would ensue following a Game 7 win by the Lakers.  Yojie in DTLA was no exception as more and more fans packed into any available space to enjoy the game with some beer and sake.  Our space was so crowded that we eventually had to turn away customers who just wanted to watch the game.  As the Lakers tied and then took the lead in the fourth quarter, our patrons chanted "Boston sucks!" admist hoots and hollers with every possession.  Every second that passed meant that the Lakers were that much closer to a repeat championship.  Amazing plays+ Clutch points+ Passionate fans=Lakers win at home against the Celtics.  Yojie and the whole of DTLA erupted as thousands took to the streets in Lakers championship fever.  The LAPD (equipped with batons and riding atop horses) were in full effect on the corner of Olympic and Grand, and thankfully Yojie was safe from rioters and vandalism.  No, not just another Thursday.  Today was the culmination of a rigorous and difficult series for our Lakers, one that Kobe marked as the "sweetest" because of who had defeated and the fact that it was all done at home.  We couldn't ask for anything more, thank you to our Los Angeles Lakers!

Ron Artest Visit

After a disheartening NBA Finals 2010 Game 2 loss to the Boston Celtics at Staples Center, the Lakers starting forward Ron Artest made an appearance at Yojie DTLA.  Artest was accompanied by a party of his family and close friends and dined on shabu shabu and sukiyaki following the game.   Although his team had just suffered a loss at home, Artest remained positive, posing for pictures and signing autographs for his fans at Yojie.  We predict that Ron Ron's upbeat attitude and focus for the ring will make him a key factor in upcoming games.  We look forward to celebrating a repeat Lakers championship victory and wish the entire team good luck on the road.  Ron Ron, next time you come by, show us that bling on your championship ring.

Community Service

Here at Yojié , we not only serve our customers with an experience and great food, but we are here to help protect our environment and serve our community. Although there is an array of causes out there, we would like to bring your attention to one of the biggest issues affecting our nation and surrounding nations as well - the BP Well Leak in the Gulf Coast.

We have seen the lack of leadership of BP and other organizations in their efforts to assist in the livelihood of the surrounding environment so our team here at Yojié's would like to extend our helping hands as much as possible. In order to do so, we are hoping you will join us in teaming up with "Dine Out for the Gulf Coast".

We are enthused by so many of our guests and would like to cordially invite you to help make a difference with us.

Dine Out for the Gulf Coast is a weekend event that restaurants across California are participating in. (Although we hope to extend this event for the rest of the month, we will continually update you on the status of the extension)
America’s premier chefs and restaurants unite to create Dine Out for the Gulf Coast, benefiting the Gulf Coast Oil Spill Fund. From June 10-12, 2010, participating restaurants throughout the United States will set aside a portion of their profits to help those directly affected by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and to support the long term restoration of the treasured coast.
Dine Out for the Gulf Coast Press Release

All the proceeds are donated to the Greater New Orleans Foundation - Gulf Coast Oil Spill Fund.

As a relief effort partner we have decided that 20% of the Seafood Entrees will be donated.

If you would like to donate to this fund directly, you can follow the above link or contact us.

We hope that you take this opportunity to help us in restoring the environment and habitat of the Gulf Coast and its' surrounding livelihood.
